All that you need to know about radiology

Those days are long gone when radiology and related practices involved extensive paperwork. As the world is advancing, we are making a shift to better alternatives that involve less paperwork and more ultra-modern technologies.

Radiology Information System, followed by Teleradiology PACS, is one such advancement in the field of medicine, thus mitigating stress of medical practitioners and professionals. In this article, we would be delving into two such advancements namely RIS(Radiology Information System) and Teleradiology PACS and how they have impacted health professionals and their work.

Radiology Information System

Radiology Information System is an improved database system used by health professionals and practitioners in order to keep abreast of patient data and other big image files generated while performing the activity. A RIS( or Radiology Information System) is specifically created for the purpose of recording health related information. Alternatively, these systems are also known as EHR systems, designed to be used by radiologists.

Introducing such a tool to your domain and staff will help them record data accurately, with little to no medical errors and transcription goof ups in charts as opposed to the paperwork system, where the chances of error were higher. These radiology information systems also provide assistance in the task of sending updates from the one (imaging) department to the patient's main healthcare provider.

Teleradiology PACS

This next one is known as Teleradiology PACS software. Thus, to shed some light on the above mentioned software, let us tell you that it is one of the crucial innovations put forth and is used by radiologists. These are used to store, archive and recover (if lost) e-radiological patient images and reports to bump up the patient care. There is cloud-based PACS technology, beefed up networks and teleradiology systems and all of them are HIPAA compliant. Getting a PACS may not cost you as much as you think as these are relatively cost effective. Weighing up different PACS and choosing the one with intuitive PACS workflow, regular routing, billing, with the ability to construe diagnostic study is a must as it would have multiple imaging modalities, sites and location can be set up too.
